Comtrend licences m-Wise MOMA Gateway in $1 million deal
LONDON, UK - May 28, 2002
Mobile technology firm m-Wise closed a $1,000,000 licence of its carrier-grade MOMA Gateway to Comtrend Corp., a large-scale global telecom manufacturer and system integrator based in Taiwan.
Comtrend's system integrator OEM business, which sells value-added mobile software to operators in Taiwan, Asia and Europe, is utilising the MOMA Gateway to develop its new mobile Application Service Provider (ASP) operation in Taiwan. The m-Wise MOMA Gateway encompasses billing solutions, interactive mobile applications and CRM platforms that enable Comtrend to launch commercial ASP services this June.
The companies are cooperating to finalise commercial and technical partnerships with Taiwan's mobile operators, and have already initiated technical integration of the m-Wise MOMA Gateway with several of the local carriers. The parties are also cooperating to finalise purchase orders to launch mobile applications for Taiwan's largest TV, film, radio, entertainment, advertising and direct marketing companies.
m-Wise co-founder Shay Ben-Asulin said: "With an impressive installed base of telecom and datacom infrastructure in many operators across Asia, Europe and North America, Comtrend is a very strategic ASP partner for m-Wise to rapidly expand the global use of our MOMA Gateway.
"We have already signed a number of the key operator, media and content provider contracts, which will generate substantial revenues beginning this summer from both SMS traffic and reverse charge billing." Our local representatives, Huang Lung Engineering, have helped us to close the Comtrend licence and other related deals in less then three months since we first set foot in Taiwan," Ben-Asulin continued.
Following Comtrend's initial client purchase orders and service launches in Taiwan, the company also intends to evaluate additional licences of the MOMA Gateway for expansion in other Far East markets.
Phil Chen, Comtrend's Vice President of Sales, said: "This licence agreement with m-Wise is critical in expanding our offering into mobile applications and content, the market area we at Comtrend believe will generate the primary source of telecom revenues moving forward. The MOMA Gateway gives us the entire range of tools we need to rapidly achieve this expansion within one robust and flexible solution."
The launch of m-Wise operations in Taiwan is facilitated by the company's local representatives, Huang Lung Engineering Co., which is the leading Taiwan-Israel technology business development company and is managed by Sephi Shapira.
